Skin and scalp have a similar structure. And like skin, a person’s scalp is vulnerable from attacks of a number of sources such as pollution, stress, or climate change. We now carry “Precision”, a new line of products for the relief of scalp problems and thinning hair solution from L’Oreal Professional. This line includes shampoo and in-salon treatments designed for sensitive scalp, oily scalp, dandruff and thinning-hair solution.
Over 40% of Canadians admit that they have sensitive scalp or suffer from scalp irritation. Pollution, product residue, stress, and chemical treatments are all possible causes of scalp irritation, redness and dryness. The Sensi Balance is a soothing shampoo that substantially reduces signs of irritation and feelings of discomfort using Sorbitwin technology. Sensi Post is a soothing in-salon treatment which provides instant relief of any discomfort and at the same time, hydrates the scalp. This is the perfect treatment for people who gets irritated scalp when a colouring service has been performed, as it instantly reduces signs of irritations.

Over 50% of all people have a dandruff problem due to an over-abundance of “Malassezia Ovalis”, a micro-organism, causes the scalp to speed up the production of skin cells, leading to the accumulation of dead skin. The Intense Clear shampoo uses the alpha-piritone technology which helps eliminate dandruff and soothes the scalp, while hair is radiant and easy to style. The Power Clear is a no-rinse anti-dandruff gel treatment which promotes the long-lasting elimination of dandruff while soothing the scalp. Combine this exclusive in-salon treatment with our “soft peel treatment” for the ultimate dandruff-eliminating action, and stay clear by using Intense Clear shampoo daily. Results can be seen after the very first application!
17% of men and women say that their hair becomes oily or dirty in no time. These people have scalp that reacts to environmental stressors and produce a fatty secretion called “sebum” that accumulates on the surface and suffocates the skin, preventing it from operating normally. The Pure Resource is a purifying shampoo that acts a detoxifying agent to free the scalp and hair from residue and prevent future accumulation. “Citramine technology” allows hair and scalp to breathe freely. Combined with the exfoliating cleansing treatment “Soft Peel Treatment” which contains micro-beads for deep-cleansing action, this salon-service clears away every form of residue and excess sebum from the scalp using “lipidine technology”.
Last but not least, Density Advanced - the solution for sparse scalp and thinning hair is here. Hair is a symbol of good health and a measure of youthfulness and success in our society. The Density Advanced is a densifying shampoo, using “Omega-6 Nutri-Complex technology” to stimulate cell activity at the root and strengthens hair. Hair becomes more dense and gains in strength from the root on up, providing body and texture to fine or thinning hair. Use this shampoo daily to prevent hair from thinning.

So who knows more about your hair? You, or your stylist?
The correct answer is, your stylist will be able to make you know the most about your hair by completing the L’Oreal Professional’s “Expert Diagnosis” card with you. We don’t know everything about your hair unless we examine your hair, and by asking you the history of your hair. The Expert Diagnosis card is a tool that helps professionals (and you) to know the most about your hair and to provide you with the best products personalized to your unique needs. Ask us about it when you come for a consultation!
Knowing your hair is just the beginning. Le Spot Hair Salon carries the most complete hair care system in our shampoo stations so we can use the right products for you, and giving you a chance to experience our product lines.

Beautiful Hair Begins with a Healthy Scalp. As of July 20, 2008, we are one of the first hair salons to have a complete hair care system including expert scalp care. A person’s scalp is vulnerable to attacks from a number of sources such as pollution, stress or climate change. Consult with your stylist using Expert Diagnosis card and find out which product is right for you. To learn more about our scalp care systems, check our post “Beautiful hair begins with a healthy scalp”.

We all hear, or experience horror stories of salon visits. Whether it be a hair cut, a color, or just a simple trim, you can never be too careful and you should always communicate with your stylist as clearly as possible.
Miscommunication is the most common reason for unsatisfactory results – if you only want to trim off an inch, hold your hair and show your stylist “this is how much I’d like to cut off” instead of just saying “I’d like to get a trim”. Your vision of “a trim” might be a lot different than what your stylist sees it. A trim can be an inch off, or it can be 2 inches off, and yes, I believe to many people, an inch is a lot different than 2 inches.
Bringing a picture of the style you would like to have is a VERY GOOD idea. If you can’t get a picture or you simply have no idea what to do, you should book an extra 15 minute consultation (free of charge at most salons) prior to your hair cut appointment. Doing this will give you a chance to sit down with your stylist and discuss about what to do with your hair, and you can look at hair magazines in the salon together with your stylist and I find looking at pictures together makes both the client and the stylist see the same image. Your stylist is then able to tell you whether your expectation is realistic or not, and whether it is suitable for your way of managing your hair, and if the color suits your skin tone. The 15 minute consultation in my opinion, is the most important step in pursuit of your perfect style. You see, how can you cut anything off, without knowing what the expected style is? You might as well blindfold the stylist as you get your hair butchered.
At this point I believe I’ve made my point, and I hope everyone will take consultation seriously like I do. If you’ll excuse me, the next time that I ask you millions of questions, please understand that I’m only trying to give you the perfect style. Remember, you could be just wanting a trim, but as your stylist, I need to know “how much of a trim” is it that you want?

So here are a few shots that I took in the month of June. The current trend update: bob style is still in, but not so Posh and more like Katie Holme’s soft, slightly toussled bob that’s less angled than Posh; keep the front pieces no longer than jaw line and do a blunt cut bang.
Long hair is about glamour in a not so “done” way. Soft long locks and shiny, bold hair colour is IN. Enjoy

I started taking pictures again in late June so here they are. Lots of guys are cutting their hair short for the summer, but instead of clipping it straight up, men are looking for more texture now. Keep an eye on the July’s styles and you’ll see a lot more short, textured cuts.
